Read Channel Modeling, Two-Dimensional Modulation Codes and Detectors for TDMR

چکیده

We propose a read channel model for two-dimensional magnetic recording (TMDR). The proposed model incorporates salient features of TDMR like high areal density, two-dimensional (2D) jitter, and inter-symbol and inter-track interference (ISI and ITI). We propose 2D modulation codes to mitigate the effects of jitter, which is a significant source of noise in TDMR. We propose analysis and development of 2D modulation codes for mitigation of jitter errors in TDMR system. We will establish bounds on the capacity of these codes and find efficient encoding schemes for such codes.
